Donovan, Hedley Williams (1914-1990)

US editor. A reporter for the Washington Post, he joined Fortune in 1945, and became its managing editor. He was editor in chief of Time, Inc., with responsibility for all its publishing ventures, and he served as an advisor to President Carter.

He was born in Brainerd, Minnesota. At Time Inc., he was chief deputy to Henry Luce. He also taught at Harvard and Oxford.
