Scottish pop-folk singer and songwriter whose hit songs include ‘Mellow Yellow’ (1966). A Gift From a Flower to a Garden (1968) was a novel double-album and epitomized the 1960s peacenik ideal of ‘flower power’. He wrote the score of the Franco Zeffirelli film Brother Sun, Sister Moon (1972).
