Doors, theUS psychedelic rock group formed in 1965 in Los Angeles, California, by Jim Morrison (1943-1971, vocals), Ray Manzarek (1935- , keyboards), Robby Krieger (1946- , guitar), and John Densmore (1944- , drums). Their first hit was ‘Light My Fire’ from their debut album The Doors (1967). They were noted for Morrison's poetic lyrics and flamboyant performance. Morrison's extended, melodramatic recitations set against repetitive guitar and organ patterns often gave their music a sinister, sexual quality. His untimely death only enhanced the cult status of the band. Other albums included Strange Days (1967), Waiting for the Sun (1968), and LA Woman (1971). They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993. How to thank TFD for its existence?
