Tartuffe

Comedy by Molière (1664). A religious hypocrite, Tartuffe, dominates the household of the gullible Orgon. He is promised Orgon's daughter in marriage and given the deeds to Orgon's possessions but Tartuffe betrays himself by making sexual advances to Orgon's wife, Elmire. He is finally arrested on the intervention of the king of France.
