Doriot, Georges Frederic (1899–1987)

French-born US management educator and venture capitalist. As a professor of industrial management at Harvard Business School (1926–66), he influenced several generations of top US executives. He was founding president of the American Research & Development Corporation (ARD Investment) (1946–72).

He was born in Paris. ARD Investment was the first publicly traded venture capital company and its loans included start-up funding for Digital Equipment Corporation (1960).
