DorseyUS bandleaders, musicians, and composers during the swing era. They worked together in the Dorsey Brothers Orchestra 1934–35 and 1953–56, but led separate bands in the intervening period. The Jimmy Dorsey band was primarily a dance band; the Tommy Dorsey band was more jazz-oriented and featured the singer Frank Sinatra 1940–42. Both Dorsey bands featured in a number of films in the 1940s, and the brothers appeared together in The Fabulous Dorseys (1947). Both brothers were also known for their mastery of their instruments: Jimmy for clarinet and alto saxophone and Tommy for trombone. How to thank TFD for its existence?
