Doubleday, Frank Nelson (1862–1934)

US publisher. He rose through the ranks at Charles Scribner's Sons and in 1897, with Samuel S McClure, founded Doubleday & McClure. An aggressive businessman, he attracted top authors and also started a chain of bookstores.

He was born in Brooklyn, New York. The firm, which he headed amid various partnership changes and mergers, became a top US publishing company.
