Douglas County

County in east-central Nebraska; area 862 sq km/333 sq mi; population (1990) 416,400. It is bounded by the Missouri River and the Iowa state line to the east and the Platte River to the west. The administrative headquarters of this the most populous county in the state is Omaha, which, with its suburbs and outlying areas, occupies the county's southeast and dominates the economy. In the rest of the region grain and livestock production predominate.
