As befitted a dame of the British empire, the collection included dinner services by Copeland, Doulton and Minton, two matching pairs of solid silver candlesticks, a Meissen vase, a solid silver canteen of cutlery and a bottle of Courvoisier. My father used to collect Royal Doulton character jugs; so did my Uncle Milton. Provided the trustee exercises its discretion in a bona fide manner for the purposes it was given, the court will not interfere (see McPhail v Doulton [1971] AC 424). |
