North Down

Administrative region on the eastern coast of Northern Ireland, serving an area in the north of County Down; area 81 sq km/31 sq mi; population (2001) 76,300. The towns under the council's remit include Bangor, Holywood, and Groomsport. The principal sources of employment include light engineering, plastics, information technology, the communications industry, distribution, retail, the maritime industry, and tourism.
