Downers Grove

Town in Du Page County, northeast Illinois; population (1990) 46,900. It is located 32 km/20 mi west of Chicago. It is a mainly residential community, with some factories. Situated at the east end of the Illinois Research and Development Corridor, it has grown as a high-tech and corporate headquarters centre. George Williams College moved here from Chicago in 1967. The Morton Arboretum lies immediately to the northwest.
