Draper, Lyman Copeland

Draper, Lyman Copeland (1815–1891)

US historical scholar and librarian. He interviewed surviving pioneers of the West and collected materials illuminating their history. He left his voluminous notes and acquisitions to the Wisconsin Historical Society, of which he was the long-time secretary (1854–86).

He was born in Hamburg, New York. He founded and was first editor of Wisconsin Historical Collections.
