Drava

River in central Europe, the second-largest tributary on the right bank of the Danube; length 720 km/447 mi. The Drava rises in east Tirol and flows in a generally southeasterly direction through Austria and Slovenia to join the Danube 21 km/13 mi east of Osijek. For part of its course, the river forms the boundary between Croatia and Hungary.

The Drava is navigable for small boats for some 600 km/373 mi, as far as Villach. It was by way of the valley of the Drava that the Huns and Slavs reached the Alps.
