Hammond organElectric organ invented in the USA by Laurens Hammond in 1934. It is widely used in gospel music. Hammond applied valve technology to miniaturize Thaddeus Cahill's original ‘tone-wheel’ concept, introduced draw-slide registration to vary timbre, and added a distinctive tremulant using rotating speakers. The synthesizer was developed from the Hammond organ. How to thank TFD for its existence?
