Dressler, Ernst Christoph (1734–1779)

German composer and singer. He worked as a secretary and singer at Bayreuth and Gotha, was later Kapelldirektor to Prince Fürstenberg at Wetzlar, and finally an opera singer in Vienna and Kassel. Beethoven's first published work was a set of variations (1782) on a march by Dressler.
