drive-by VC

Term in the venture capital industry used to describe the lack of service supplied by some venture capitalists (VCs) to the companies they invest in. Most VCs provide added value to the ventures they invest in by giving the benefit of their considerable business expertise at board meetings. However, a drive-by VC is one that briefly makes an appearance before leaving, or one who merely drives by.
