Dromore

Town in northwest County Down, Northern Ireland; population (2001) 4,600. It is situated on the River Lagan, 27 km/17 mi from Belfast. The present Protestant cathedral was erected after the destruction of the town during the insurrection of 1641. Nearby is the well-preserved Norman motte and bailey, Dromore Mound.

The cathedral contains the tombs of two important bishops, Jeremy Taylor (1613–1667) and Thomas Percy.
