Theatre in the UK, first opened in 1663 on the site of earlier London playhouses. It was twice burned; the present building dates from 1812.

Fokine also choreographed dances for the play when it was presented at the Drury Lane Theatre in London in 1925.
At the opening of Drury Lane Theatre, in 1747, Dr Johnson delivered the following prologue to the assembled audience:
They officially disbanded after a performance at London's historic Drury Lane Theatre on June 12, 1977.
