Drusus, Marcus Livius (died 91 BC)

Roman tribune of the plebs 91 BC, son of Marcus Livius Drusus (tribune 122 BC). His measures for judicial reform were carried despite opposition from the equites (Equestrian order); but when he made known his intentions to secure Roman citizenship for all Italians, the Senate turned against him, and Drusus was murdered by an unknown assassin and his enactments were declared invalid. His death precipitated the onset of the Social War 91 BC between Rome and its Italian allies.
