Drusus Caesar

Drusus Caesar (c. 13 BC-AD 23)

Son of the emperor Tiberius and Vipsania Agrippina. In AD 14 he suppressed a mutiny of troops in Pannonia; he was governor of the Roman province Illyricum 17; and in 19 following the death of Tiberius' nephew and adopted son Germanicus, he became the obvious heir to the throne. Rumour had it that Drusus's wife Livilla (daughter of Nero Claudius Drusus and sister of Germanicus) was the mistress of Sejanus, who persuaded her to poison Drusus 23 AD.
