Dušek, Franz (František Xaver) (1731–1799)

Bohemian (Czech) pianist and composer. He wrote about 40 symphonies and 20 string quartets.

He was a pupil of Georg Wagenseil in Vienna, Austria. Dušek himself later taught in Prague, Bohemia, and was the master of many famous pupils. He and his wife Josefa (1754–1824) were friends of Mozart, and worked on his opera Don Giovanni at their home in Prague.
