Duarte

Town in Los Angeles County, southwest California; population (1990) 20,700. It is situated 31 km/19 mi northeast of Los Angeles, on the San Gabriel River, to the south of the San Gabriel Mountains. On former orange growing land, it has some light industry. It is home to the City of Hope National Medical Center.
