| The metastandards for ETDs are those proposed by the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative which is a metadata element set intended to facilitate the composition and archiving of electronic resources (Dublin Core, 2003). On the other hand, the Dublin Core Metadata initiative, which has developed a metadata standard for Internet resources, defines metadata far more broadly as "a description of an information resource.
