Dublin Core

Set of metadata elements used to help describe the content of Web pages. The Dublin Core elements include information on the page's author, creation date, description, and publisher. This information is usually included in the Web page but is not visible on the screen. The information is helpful to the managers of Web sites because it reminds them who developed the page, and therefore who needs to maintain it. The information also helps a search engine to understand more about a Web page and so improve the efficiency of their search facilities.
