Dürnstein

Austrian village in the province of Lower Austria, on the River Danube, 7 km/4 mi west of Krems; population (1991) 400. It is overlooked by the ruins of a castle in which the English King Richard I was imprisoned 1192–93 after being captured on his return from the Third Crusade.
