Dufaure, Jules Armand Stanislas (1798–1881)

French statesman, prime minister 1876–77, and 1877–79. His policy ran counter to that of the Senate and the president and he resigned in 1876, but returned to power nine months later.

He became councillor of state in 1836 and was minister of public works 1839–40. Later, he was minister of the interior 1848–52and minister of justice from 1871.
