Dullin, Charles (1885–1949)

French actor, manager, and director. In 1919 he started his own company, which earned a high reputation for its productions of both modern and classic plays staged in an austere but poetic style. He became a director of the Comédie Française in Paris in 1936.

Dullin was one of the original members of the Vieux-Colombier company founded by Jacques Copeau. He influenced many later French actors either by example or through the acting school attached to his company.
