Dundas

Town in Hamilton-Wentworth Regional Municipality, south Ontario, Canada; population (1991) 21,900. It is located 5 km/3 mi west of Hamilton. Laid out in 1801 at the head of the Desjardins Canal, it was an important lake port before the arrival of the railway in the 1850s. It is now an industrial and residential suburb of Hamilton, and a retail and shipping centre. Manufactures include furniture, textiles, and machine tools.
