Dungannon and South Tyrone

Administrative region in the centre of Northern Ireland, bordering the Republic of Ireland, and serving the central and southern aspects of County Tyrone; area 772 sq km/298 sq mi; population (2001, Dungannon District Council) 47,750. The towns under the council's remit are Dungannon and Coalisland. The principal sources of employment include the manufacturing industry, glass and plastics, engineering, agriculture, agribusiness, the construction sector, and retail.
