Dunkeld

Resort town in Perth and Kinross unitary authority, Scotland, on the north bank of the River Tay, 26 km/16 mi northwest of Perth; population (2001) 1,000. A bridge with seven arches, designed by Thomas Telford and opened in 1808, spans the river. The cathedral, founded in 1107, was sacked in the Reformation, but has been partly restored as a parish church.

The church contains a recumbent armoured figure known as the Wolf of Badenoch.

The name of Dunkeld is believed to derive from a Culdee church (a fraternity of monks), founded in 815 by Constantine, king of the Picts.
