Dunmore, Helen (1952– )

English novelist, children's writer, short-story writer, and poet. Her novel A Spell of Winter won the inaugural Orange Prize in 1996. Her other novels include Zennor in the Darkness (1994), Burning Bright (1995), Talking to the Dead (1997), Your Blue-Eyed Boy (1999), and Mourning Ruby.

Her novel The Siege (2001) was shortlisted for the 2001 Booker Prize, the 2001 Whitbread Award, and the 2001 Orange Prize.
