Dunmore East

Resort and fishing port in County Waterford, Republic of Ireland; population (2002) 1,750. It stands at the mouth of Waterford harbour, 16 km/10 mi southeast of the city of Waterford.

During the 19th century Dunmore East was the terminus for boats carrying mail to England and the south of Ireland. Dunmore East is situated near a number of rocky promontories; on one of them, Brownstown Head, are the remains of five forts.
