Duquesne

Town in Allegheny County, southwest Pennsylvania; population (1990) 8,500. It is situated on the Monongahela River, 16 km/10 mi southeast of Pittsburgh. Laid out in 1885 by the Duquesne Steel County and soon (1890) taken over by Andrew Carnegie, Duquesne for many years had one of the largest steel plants in the USA.
