Durand

Town in Shiawassee County, south-central Michigan; population (1990) 4,300. It is located 24 km/15 mi west-southwest of Flint, on Threemile Creek. Settled in the 1870s, it became a major junction for the Grand Western Trunk Railroad, famous for its large Union Station. It remains an Amtrak stop, and has railway repair shops. Situated in an agricultural area, it has grain elevators and manufactures machinery.
