Duranty, Walter (1884-1957)

English-born US journalist. Joining the New York Times in 1913, he became its Moscow correspondent and won a 1932 Pulitzer Prize for reporting. Regarded by some as an expert, he has been criticized for his pro-Stalinist bias.

He was born in Liverpool.
