Dunstable

Town in Middlesex County, northeast Massachusetts; population (1998 est) 2,700. It is located 13 km/8 mi west-northwest of Lowell, on the New Hampshire border. It was incorporated in 1673 as part of a block of land that was later split into 15 settlements.

The town is named in honour of Mrs Edward Tyng, an early settler from Dunstable, England, whose family bought land here from native Americans in 1611.
