Duruflé, Maurice (1902-1986)

French organist and composer. He learnt music in the choir school of Rouen Cathedral 1912-18, and then studied at the Paris Conservatory under Louis Vierne, Charles Tournemire, and Paul Dukas. He was appointed organist at the church of Saint-Etienne-du-Mont in 1929.

Works

Requiem for chorus and orchestra (1947); Messe-cum jubilo (1966); chorale on Veni Creator, suite and many other works for organ; Prelude, Recitative and Variations for flute, viola, and piano; three dances for orchestra.
