Dusek, Franz (Frantisek Xaver)

Dušek, Franz (František Xaver) (1731-1799)

Bohemian (Czech) pianist and composer. He wrote about 40 symphonies and 20 string quartets.

He was a pupil of Georg Wagenseil in Vienna, Austria. Dušek himself later taught in Prague, Bohemia, and was the master of many famous pupils. He and his wife Josefa (1754-1824) were friends of Mozart, and worked on his opera Don Giovanni at their home in Prague.
