Duval, Denise (1921- )

French soprano. She made her debut in Bordeaux in 1941, as Lola. At the Paris Opéra-Comique she created Thérèse in Poulenc's Les Mamelles de Tirésias, in 1947, and in 1959 was Elle in the first performance of La Voix Humaine; at the Opéra she was Blanche in the first local performance of the Carmélites. At Glyndebourne in 1962 she sang Mélisande. Other roles included Massenet's Salomé and Ravel's Concepcion. She retired in 1965.
