Duxbury

Town in Plymouth County, southeast Massachusetts; population (1998 est) 15,400. It is situated on Plymouth Bay, 48 km/30 mi southeast of Boston. Incorporated in 1637, the second town in Plymouth County, Duxbury was founded in 1624 by colonists from Plymouth, including Myles Standish, William Brewster, and John Alden. Formerly a shipbuilding centre, Duxbury is now a residential suburb for Boston and a summer resort.

Alden's house is one of eight entries the town has in the national register of historic places.
