Dvořákova, Ludmila (1923– )

Czech soprano. She made her debut in Ostrava in 1949, as Káta Kabanová. She also sang in Bratislava, Prague, and Vienna, before making her Berlin debut in 1960, as Octavian. She sang at Bayreuth 1965–71, as Gutrune, Venus, and Kundry, and at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London, 1966–71 as Brünnhilde and Isolde. Her New York Metropolitan Opera House debut was in 1966, as Leonore. Other roles included Ortrud, the Marschallin, Ariadne, and Jenůfa. She sang at the Vienna Staatsoper 1964–85.
