Dyersburg

Town and administrative headquarters of Dyer County, northwest Tennessee; population (2000) 17,500. It is situated on the north fork of the Forked Deer River, 127 km/77 mi north-northeast of Memphis. Founded in the 1820s, this industrial and trade centre manufactures rubber and electrical products, textiles, and cottonseed oil, mills lumber, and processes vegetables, soybeans, cotton, corn, and dairy goods.
