Dyfrig, St (c.450-546)

Celtic religious leader and traditional founder of monasticism in Wales. His remains are buried in Llandaff Cathedral.

Dyfrig founded a number of monasteries, for example at Gwent, on the River Wye, and on Caldey Island. He died on Bardsey Island, but his body was interred in Llandaff in 1120.
