Dzierzoniów

Town in Wałbrzych province, Poland, 50 km/31mi southwest of Wrocław; population (1990) 9,900. Cotton textiles and electrical goods are manufactured, and grain and cattle traded. The town was founded in the 13th century.

During the Seven Years' War, Dzierzoniów was the scene of a battle 1762: the Prussians, under Frederick the Great, defeated the forces of the Austrian Habsburgs.
