empowerment

In business, the removal of constraints that prevent an individual from doing their job as effectively as possible. The idea is that power, especially discretionary decision-making power, flows down through an organization so that the people performing the tasks have greater control over the way the tasks are performed. Empowerment is often an effect of decentralization.
