Earn, Loch

Lake straddling the border between Stirling unitary authority and Perth and Kinross unitary authority, Scotland, northeast of the Trossachs. Loch Earn extends over a distance of about 10 km/6 mi, widening to 1 km/0.6 mi and reaching a depth of approximately 90 m/295 ft. The River Earn issues from the loch at its eastern end. Ben Vorlich rises south of the loch to a height of 985 m/3,231 ft.

Ardvorlich House, situated on the shores below, was celebrated by Walter Scott as the ‘Darnlinvarach’ of A Legend of Montrose 1819.
