East Aurora

Community in Aurora township, Erie County, west New York; population (1990) 6,600. It is located 26 km/16 mi southeast of Buffalo, of which it is a suburb with a variety of light industries, including the manufacture of metal and wood products. From 1895–1939 East Aurora was the centre of the Roycroft artists' colony and of the Roycroft Press, established by writer and printer Elbert Hubbard to stimulate fine handcraftsmanship.
