East Greenwich

Town and administrative headquarters of Kent County, east Rhode Island; population (1990) 11,900. It is located on Narragansett Bay, 19 km/12 mi south of Providence. Formerly a farming, fishing, shipbuilding, and textile centre, it now produces machinery, textiles, chemicals, and jewellery.
