East Moline

Town in Rock Island County, northwest Illinois; population (1990) 20,100. It is located on the Mississippi River in the Quad Cities area; it is a suburb immediately east of Moline, and across from Bettendorf and Riverdale, Iowa. It is known for the large International Harvester plant located here. East Moline was settled in 1895 and soon began to produce farm implements and machinery.

The town is home to the Quad-City Downs horse racing track and the East Moline Speedway stock-car racing track. Campbells Island State Memorial Park, 3 km/2 mi to the north, was the site of an 1814 battle between American soldiers and Indians under Black Hawk.
