East Siberian Sea

Part of the Arctic Ocean, off the north coast of Russia, between the New Siberian Islands and the Chukchi Sea. The world's widest continental shelf, with an average width of nearly 650 km/404 mi, lies in the East Siberian Sea.

A Norwegian yacht and its three crew were detained in the East Siberian Sea off the coast of Russia's Chukotka region, Russia's border guard service said Wednesday.
Byline: ANI Washington, Dec 21 (ANI): A recent expedition by a Russian team has determined that the East Siberian Sea is bubbling with methane, a powerful greenhouse gas, which is being released from underwater reserves.
These anomalies were documented in the East Siberian Sea and the Laptev Sea, covering several tens of thousands of square kilometres.
